Yasmine Achour presented viability results at a cell therapy workshop in Lausanne

Dr Achour compared two flow cytometry methods for measuring the viability of thawed cell products at a workshop on 21 April 2026.

Dr Yasmine Achour, research scientist at Halcyon Biolabs, presented a poster at a workshop on the quality control of cell therapies in Lausanne on 21 April 2026. The workshop brought together laboratories, clinicians and manufacturers from Switzerland and neighbouring countries.

Her poster compared two flow cytometry methods for measuring viability after thawing. She tested products that had been stored at -80 °C and products that had been stored in vapour-phase nitrogen, and she measured each sample at 30 minutes and at four hours after thawing.

The two methods agreed within three percentage points on fresh material. The difference grew for samples that were measured four hours after thawing, and the poster recommends fixing the time of measurement in every study protocol. The data will be written up for publication in 2027.
